The symbol of the Sufi Movement is a heart with wings. It explains that the heart is between soul and body, a medium between spirit and matter. When the soul is covered by a heart which has a love for matter, it is naturally attracted to matter. When the soul is covered by a heart which has a love of God, it is naturally attracted to God. As it is said, where your treasure is, there your heart will also be.
The heart has the capacity to fill our souls with nothing but loving kindness.
The heart has the capacity to discern the difference between the dysfunctional mind and the heart centeredness within the self and within others.
This capacity to deeply see from the heart allows our true selves to love all beings no matter what their deluded selves have done or said. The heart sees past the deluded words and actions of the imagined self of others and purely loves only the true loving selves in others.
The heart is the source of the will and awareness.
The heart is the source of discernment and realization.
The heart is the source of intuition and inspiration.
The heart has the capacity to completely surrender the imagined self with the practice of non-abiding awareness, fasting and stillness.
The heart kindled with the love of God is capable of the unconditional love of humanity.
It is the heart’s roll to awaken, to become the gardener and to tend to the raising of that seedling that begins as the soul.
It is the doing of the heart, fueled by love that frees us.
The soul is the spiritual being that develops and grows within us.
It is our soul that is made in the image of god.
It is our hearts who are the guardians that raise the childlike soul within each of us.
It is the blessed soul whose heart is empty of self, who is filled with the light of God.
The heart kindled with love becomes a lighted lantern, which throws its light on every person one meets, and as this light falls upon the person one meets, all things about that person; his body, heart and soul become clear.
When the deluded self is fully dissolved, only the heart is left to fill the maturing soul with light.
When the heart and soul eventually become purely one light, pure joy unfolds.
When the heart and soul are realized with love, the most important will of God – to love God with all of one’s heart and soul is realized. The second most important will of God is also fulfilled – to love all one’s neighbours as one loves one’s true soulful self.
